Beef soup with pearl barley

Beef soup with pearl barley and a mix of beans. One of the better soups I’ve eaten in recent times. A thick, filling, spicy soup with beef. Perfect for cold November days. Warming and delicious.

Składniki / Ingredients:

For soup

  • 500 grams of boneless beef for stew
  • 1 red onion cut into cubes
  • 2 stalks of celery cut into smaller pieces
  • 1 carrot cut into slices
  • 4 cloves of garlic crushed
  • salt
  • pepper
  • red paprika powder
  • bay leaf
  • ground cumin
  • turmeric
  • 300 grams of cooked mix beans
  • 1 1/2 cup (375 mof cooked pearl barley
  • 1 liter of beef broth
  • 3 teaspoons of tagine paste

Sposób wykonania / Instructions:

For soup

  • Mix beef with garlic, salt, pepper, red pepper powder, ground cumin, turmeric. On a hot pan, on oil brown the meat on each side. Add onions. Saute together for 1 hour on low heat. Then add beef broth, mix beans, and tagine paste. Cook it for a further 15 minutes. At the end add the cooked pearl barley. Then simmer till soup is thick.
